Ruffle Sleeves

When I saw this dress I knew it would be perfect to transition into Fall.  I can wear it now while it's still 80 degrees, when it gets cooler in the 60's I can wearing riding boots and boot socks, and when even cooler in the 30's I will add leggings or tights.  The material feels like a sweatshirt and super soft.  Plus it has pockets!  You may be concerned about the length but keep in mind I am 5'9", so if you are shorter it will be longer on you.

I love a long scarf, they style the best in my opinion.  However, who wants their scarf hanging past their dress?  So I knot the ends to make the scarf shorter and seem more finished.  Since September is fall I opted for ankle booties and this leather backpack is the perfect final touch.  Speaking of my backpack, I found it at Nordstrom Rack a few years ago and have loved using it.  It holds so much, is stylish because it's leather.  Perfect addition to any collection.

I love to talk about staple pieces on here.  These boots are 2 years old, the backpack is 3 years old, and the leopard scarf is 3 years old.  All items were higher priced than I normally spend but I knew I would get the most out of them.  Shockingly I was able to find the boots in black to share with you.  They are beyond comfortable and very classic.
I got the idea for this dress and pairing it with leopard from Southern Curls and Pearls
I have worn this outfit a few times to work.  The first time I opt'd for these wedges (in tan).  I have also worn it with a moto jacket.
My sister sent me her Fitbit Charge HR and I have been amazed at how much I actually walk.  Don't let the aps fool you, they don't really track your steps 100% accurate.  I set a reasonable goal of 5k steps in a day.  For someone in an office that is more realistic to complete and who wants to set a goal that isn't obtainable.  Combining the My Fitness Pal app I am able to track my calories, steps, weight, water, and sleep.  This is helping me come down in weight, not drastically but still down.  My goal is to fit in my favorite pair of pants.  I will leave it at that.  Saturday I attended a home dedication for my husband's work and then ran some errands, I actually hit 5k steps walking into the ABC store.  I thought that was hilarious!
This weekend was much better than last....I got my school work complete in time to relax on Sunday.

Who inspires you?  What are your goals?

  1. the boots are really cute but I really love that shirt dress. I've been lookin for something like that for so long!
    The Color Palette

  2. I love that dress and I was sold when you said it has POCKETS!! A must in my book! I agree that sometimes it's ok to spend a little more if you know you'll get a lot of wear/use out of something.

I recently had a baby and so my goal is to be able to fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes, or else I'll need all new clothes! I don't so much care about the weight as much as I care about doing this in a healthy way.

  3. It was so great running into you today! And when I saw you I realized I hadn't seen your posts recently so I thought I'd hop on over and say hi :) Cute outfit! And I love the backpack - I pretty much always carry a backpack now instead of a purse, either because I'm carrying around books or photo gear or my writing journal...or all of the above That dress is super cute too, and it's a great option for a winter dress with leggings :)

  4. So great you are walking so much Lee. This outfit is so chic and you have inspired me to recreate it. Never worn a scarf that style before. Loving your hair these days, too. =)

Welcome by and join my new linkup this week, pretty lady. Thanks and happy weekend! Ada =))
