Thanksgiving Travel

This is hands down the perfect travel outfit!  My Never Full Stella and Dot tote is perfect as my carry on.  It will easily hold my laptop, scarf, books, and other travel necessities.  Not to mention it's super light weight when empty, which means it is only as heavy as I fill it.

These leggings are a few years old but I linked a similar pair I am thinking of ordering.  I love leather front leggings, they seem a little more dressy to me.  Pairing this long sleeve tunic was a no brainer, it is light weight but will keep me warm.  Add an infinity scarf, and vest I am ready for whatever travel throws my way!
One thing I also like about this outfit is I can wear it for other than travel!  Think Thanksgiving day meal with dressier shoes and a cute necklace.  Black Friday shopping.  A vest is smart when black Friday shopping because you can't get too hot running around but stay warm enough in the cooler temps.  This vest actually came from Wal-Mart 2 years ago.

Well I gave notice!  My boss was shocked.  He asked me to work a 30 day notice, which I told him no.  He also said he thought I was doing a good job, that he had planned in January to get me more involved in the company, and give a $15k raise.  Welp you should have mentioned all of those things to me before!  Sorry, too late.  It is hard when you work for someone who is never pleased.  You don't know where you stand or if you are even doing a good job.  Don't get me wrong I don't need affirmation that often, but when all I am told is I can't do anything right I tend to feel discouraged.

On to the good news!  My new company has decided to give me my own office instead of office sharing with someone else.  They love office sharing, so this is a big deal!  Also, my benefits package came over and it's amazing!  Everything will start day 1.  OH and I get 3 weeks of PTO!!  I mean wow!  I might actually get to visit my sister more than once a year.

Luckily part of my 2 week notice is Thanksgiving so I will have less than 10 working days to complete.  Plus it will be nice to have that final paycheck.  My new job is a lower salary, but sometimes money isn't everything.  My happiness is much more valuable.

As of now the husband and I don't have plans for Thanksgiving.  My mom and her husband have a timeshare in the Shenandoah Valley, so they will be gone.  Most of our friends are traveling home, so it's just us two.  We are trying to find stuff to do that isn't shopping over the long weekend.  We are trying to be smart about Christmas this year and not shop too much.  I will check my Nephews Christmas Lists and what sales will be going on.  I will be shopping Small Business Saturday because some of my favorite stores will be having amazing deals.

Have a great week!!!

  1. Congratulations on your new job! I know what you mean in regards to knowing if you are doing a good job or not. My previous job rarely gave me compliments nor direction on my work so it was frustrating at times. I hope your new job is better than you could ever imagine! By the way, I love this comfy outfit!

  6. Congrats on the new job! It's always exciting to get a fresh start, and I totally agree, there are so many things (like sanity, time with family, etc.) much more important than the numbers in your salary.
