Supporting Local

Welcome to Romper week!

I hope your Independence Day was relaxing and fun!  Would love to hear what you did.
Sadly July 4th was rainy so most of our plans were cancelled.  However on the 3rd we had fun.  Pittsboro has something called first Sunday.  It's basically a big street party with food trucks, Artisan's and live music.  Because it's a holiday weekend they had more festivities than normal, like a corn hole competition.  We drank, ate, and shopped.  During first Sunday is where we pick up my husband's soap.  There's a lady who makes the best "leather" soap.  We also love going to the antique store.  I usually end up getting something there.  Last year I picked up a black metal tray with a beautiful floral mural.  This year I scored a marble cheese slicer.

On our way there we got information on renting a kayak and going up the Haw river.  We are hoping to do this our Anniversary weekend.  Pack a lunch, take some small fishing poles, and check out nature.  I learned while we were there that a rope swing is up river and so fun.

Pairing slip on sneakers like these Steve Madden's is a perfect way to keep an outfit chic while being casual.  I love throwing on my Madden's to run around town or to dress down a dress.  The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is coming in 14 days and I can't wait to see what treasures I find.  These shoes were from last year's sale.

It's important to me that I be comfortable which is why I love adding a cute light weight jacket or sweater to my romper.  I can run around doing errands or meet a friend for lunch and not be cold inside or feel like I am showing too much skin.  Getting older I find myself being more modest.
Working in Downtown Durham has given me an opportunity to try the locally owned restaurants.  For a sweet treat I love the Cupcake Bar!  They have regular size or mini cupcakes.  Which is perfect when you want a sweet treat but not the calories.  They create fun cupcakes based on drinks.  Also, they have gluten free cupcakes.  I usually go on Monday where you get a free mini with the purchase of a full size cupcake.  This way I have a tiny treat and my husband and I can split the larger one for desert.

I read on another blog about "Restaurant Bucket List".  So I thought I would share review's of places I have eaten in Durham.  First on the list is the Cupcake Bar!  They have something for everyone and even for the sweet lover you can get a "shot" of icing!  Hands down the best cupcakes I have gotten outside my mom's kitchen ever!

Where do you love to eat?

  4. That cupcake place sounds awesome. The min ones are enough for me. Such a cute everyday romper plus black goes with everything. Love the simple styling. And I must say I am looking forward to see what you picked up at Nordstrom's sale.
