Growing up I loved Halloween. My mom usually made our costumes and we would walk the neighborhood with my dad. I'll never forget a neighbor we had would go ALL Out! One year he even hid in the trunk of his car and as we approached he would jump out in full costume and give us candy. I ran screaming once....poor man felt so bad. What can I say I was like 7 years old.
Anyhow, getting dressed and going out was so much fun we never wanted to eat a good dinner. My mom had simple recipe's that we enjoyed eating so before trick-or-treating she would trow something together we were sure to eat. This is my favorite she use to do!
Ham Steak - cover with yellow mustard and brown sugar (not too much) then bake (350 for 15 minutes).
Being that we don't have children I enjoy using Nestle chocolate bars as a center piece on my table, like here. I take an apothecary jar and start putting the candy facing outward around the outter edge of the jar. As I build the layers I put candy in the center to help hold the shape. This way you can grab candy from inside without messing up the design. It's a fun way to show what's in the jar and as a different piece on your table or island counter. My hubby and I love Baby Ruth and Butterfingers. My favorite thing to do with a Butterfingers is break them up as a topping on cupcakes (as shown). Wal-Mart has the best pricing and selection of Halloween candy and dinner selections. #treats4all
