What I Want....

Ok I have to get a bit "confessional" for a moment.  I covet - my fellow blogger.  There are many items that fellow fashion bloggers have that just aren't financially reasonable for me.  I am sad that I am not in a place [of someone younger] to purchase said items.  Then I have moments of clarity and am happy for what I do have.  See both my husband and I have high school diploma's and nothing else.  I am currently in college [at 35 - yup 35] getting my Accounting degree.  College didn't work for me when I was 18, but years later I found something I could do and liked; so an education seemed like the right step.  We both work hard and pay our bills, but little is left for shopping.  On rare months [like scholarship check time] I am able to pay off a credit card and/or save for shopping.  I am very careful with our money to make sure we have the "necessities" and I admit I am jealous of fellow fashion bloggers who can purchase items I can not.  I know I shouldn't and should be happy for the life I do have [which I am].  On that rare occasion that I can 'splurge', I do.  Like this top and pants.  My fav boutique had 30% off their jeans - one day only and I ventured in to see what they had.  These pants were $88 and the discount was enough [plus it was payday] for me to purchase them. I know I can wear them to work or anywhere for that matter, versatility is important in the pieces I do purchase.  Now the top - which I LOVE was marked down at Nordstrom.  Hello FREE shipping.  I love the look and feel of it and try my hardest not to wear it EVERY day.  I would Never spend $20 on a shirt from Target [not that I don't Love Target].  I hope I am not being too forward by expressing my green innards toward my fellow bloggers but I have to say that it keeps me in check [so to speak] on what is a necessity.  I know I work hard and I have a good life [my husband is to best and gives me all he can], for that I am thankful.  I also try to make sure I don't compare myself to someone else, cause honey they broke the mold with me!  So let's be honest here -  Do you ever envy what someone else has, even for just a split second?

  1. I know the feeling. Blogging is a comparative world and it's hard to not judge yourself against others. I think you do a great job with your outfit posts. Think of it this way- it's easy to dress really well with lots of money, it takes way more creativity to dress well on a budget. That's admirable! You go girl!

  3. I think we all think that other bloggers or people in general have it better than we do--or more stuff that we want. But I tend to always figure out eventually to be grateful for what I have--sounds like you have figured that out to! And sooo good for you going back to school--what an accomplishment :)

  4. I know how you feel, and it's hard for me not to compare myself to others sometimes. I should just appreciate what I have! Loving this color on you and those pants are amazing!
